Brief History
Built in the late 19th century, the “riseria” was designed to utilise to the utmost efficiency the water of three nearby rivers: “Roggia Cusani”, “Marchesina” and “Colatore del Sillaro”. These surround on three sides the mill and create a peninsula.
Additionally, they deliever water to the old waterwheel, which was the main energy source of the “riseria”. Due to its waterwheel, the heart and center of the mill, this place was for many decades the only energy source for the whole region as well.
Efficency and beauty merge in this mill and make it a small jewel in the countryside of Lodi. An undeniable and surprising mix of Craftmanship, tradition and engineering.

The Waterwheel
Oldest piece of equipment and at the same timeless symbol of the “riseria”, the waterwheel has been since its creation in the 19th century the heart of the mill. Back then, it produced the necessary energy to power the mill and even some nearby villages. Even if it is not the main energy source anymore, it still exists in the mill as a “memento” of a glorious past with deep roots, which opens to a bright and exciting future.
